Reasonable prices with reasonable people. That’s all I ask for in this life!! The vibe here is normal friendly, not like weird hyper friendly like a lot of LA spots where you feel like this person might benefit from a lower dose of whatever. Everyone seems cool at Lucas but I go to Brian here and he’s a 10/10. I’m a woman who gets men’s hair cuts and I really struggled to find my spot in LA….the $14 barber where it was truly a grab bag of results and maybe a dash of confusion when you walked in? The $300 ladiesssss salon where every chick got the Tom Petty? The very queer queer queer spot (cool if that is your thing/comfort zone but not I) where you were probably really bumming them out by getting a symmetrical haircut? (Yes, a symmetrical, not asymmetrical.) I tried it all girl! Let my battle scars and hair cuts that left my gf not talking to me for days be your shortcut to happiness. Lucas is a spot where they actually listen, and do not try to shape you into their image. The only down side is the parking but let me also remind readers that only in LA would parking your own private vehicle a block and a half (less?) away be seen as a downside lol. Just don’t say I didn’t warn you and show up late. Also, don’t tell too many people about this spot, because it’s easy to book last minute as well!!!

Lucas salon is a gem. Every stylist I’ve gone to here has been a kind person and given me exactly what I asked for. Today, I saw Ann Marie and she’s an absolute master at her craft. She transformed my grown out partial highlight into the hair I had as a child during the summer. She perfectly blended a balayage and toned it just right. It’s above and beyond my expectations. She took the time and care to make it just right. Thank you, Ann Marie! Also, Lucas salon has an ambiance that I appreciate. It’s cool, just like Frogtown.

Lisa is a gem. She made time to squeeze me in despite a full schedule and took good care of me when I needed a head shave due to hair loss. The place is also super clean and very chill and you can sit outside while you wait to be seen. The man at the front desk and hair washer lady (didn’t catch their names) are also very nice and accommodating. I’ll be back here for cuts once my hair grows out !
