Tangerine is *the* hair salon I'd recommend to anyone in San Francisco. The space is calming, beautiful, and full of warm sunlight. Everything in it, from the chairs to the art to the bouquets to the music playlists, feels intentional and artful. Its location in Chinatown, mere blocks away from North Beach, has stunning views of the Bay and is surrounded by cool shops, restaurants, and art galleries. If you drive, there are two affordable parking lots about a block away, but I've usually been able to find street parking. The owner, Ching, has been my stylist for almost a decade, and I can't imagine letting anyone else touch my hair. I have fine, super straight (1A) texture hair that many a stylist in my past has wrecked because it's difficult to layer. I first came to her and wouldn't let her do much besides a straight cut because of my hair trauma, but she earned my trust over time. Now I sit in her chair and ask her what she thinks I should do — and she's always right. My hair is just getting better every time she cuts and styles it! She manages to make me look like I have volume, and I get so many compliments on my hair because of her. Ching is the best, I cannot recommend her enough. Her haircuts are by far the best I have received. She helps my hair look good even when I don’t put in much effort between cuts. Not to mention how sweet she is and how beautiful and calming her new space is! Always look forward to my visits with her and HIGHLY recommend!
