Update after 3 years of having JOY, the absolutely most delightful human on earth, as my stylist. If you've done your research and have seen pictures of her work, then rest assured, your curls will be in good hands. After 2 major bad cuts, it did take a few sessions to "restore" my curls and shape. She's not an actual magician, even though you'll leave feeling like she did some magic ✨️ 😉 so be realistic with your curl journey. While I understand some people are upset they didn't get accepted as a client, please be mindful if you read reviews and maybe try to understand how The Beauty Factory chooses to operate and have clients. At first I thought it was kind of silly too and that I had to have a consultation first....but now I understand fully why they chose this method!!! I have wasted hundreds, actually more like thousands over the last 15 years on bad haircuts. I wish more stylist were selective because it protects BOTH of us. They're not going to try to cut my curly hair and accidentally mess it up with their purest of intentions...and I'm not going to waste my money and cry. Also, as an established client, I have learned to really appreciate how she does her bookings. Highly recommend alarms when she opens the next month. Hairstylist are allowed to have boundaries and choose how they do business- just like we are as customers. It doesn't make them bad or snobby because you weren't selected. Side note- if you're upset by their methods and don't respect it, then ANY stylist would be more than in the right by declining you as a client. Further proves its not a good match for the stylist or business as a whole.

I have been going to Joy for about two years now and literally cannot imagine my life without her! I had struggled with how to style, wash, dry, and just plain manage my curly hair appropriately all my life. The internet was no help because every “curly girl” routine is so different and it’s confusing to know who to actually take advice from. I had never even been to a salon that fixed my hair at the end of the cut where I didn’t have to immediately go home and fix it myself. Joy immediately made me feel at ease my first appointment and was genuinely excited to teach me all about how to care for my hair. I have felt confidence in myself grow because of what she has done for me and my hair. I look forward to every appointment I have with her because she is a true joy to be around. I highly recommend Joy and the Beauty Factory for all your hair needs. The environment is relaxing, clean, aesthetically pleasing, and all the girls who work there are kind to all the customers that enter. This is a true safe space for those looking to build hair confidence!

I found The Beauty Factory two years ago when I’d switched to a clean product line (Innersense) and figured out I didn’t really know how to care for or style my curls. I matched with Joy and have not looked back since. I get comments on my naturally curly hair regularly. I watched Influencers and tutorials, but there’s no replacement for learning in the chair. Things I love about Joy are how great of a teacher she is, how she’s also constantly learning and perfecting her trade, and how fun she is to talk to. I love that The Beauty Factory cares about the environmental impact and products they use and only wish there was a kids stylist like Joy to help me with my toddler’s curls. It’s like no other salon experience I’ve ever had. Scheduling is straightforward. They always offer a warm (or cool) drink and never make me feel rushed. It’s an investment, but my hair cuts last and I feel pampered each time.

Ah! Where do I even start — the people here are absolute gems. I’ve known Joy for 10 years, and she is exceptionally welcoming. She’ll do everything in her power to make you look and feel your best—truly the best hype girl. She’s easy to talk to, never makes you feel like you “should’ve known” something, and is always willing to explain things, go into detail, and help in any way she can. The atmosphere is serene and peaceful, almost like stumbling into a little magical forest. Serena, the owner, has poured her heart and soul into creating a space that feels intentional and seamless. She genuinely cares about making sure you and your stylist are a good match before any services even begin, which I love. Could not recommend this place enough. You’ll be in great hands no matter which stylist you end up with!

I always leave the Beauty Factory smiling from ear to ear. I am able to show up as myself on a good or bad day and I am welcomed with genuine kindness. I have been seeing Joy for little over 2 years and I will be a client until one of us moves away. I would even fly in for a hair appointment because I love her quality of work and conversations so much. If you are looking for a welcoming and relaxed atmosphere to be yourself and leave with amazing hair, this is the place. She also has the best book recommendations and a vast knowledge of plants, I always leave with great hair and having learned something!

I LOVE EVERY FREAKIN THING about this salon! It’s smells amazing. It’s peaceful. It’s like an upscale spa that you would find in a bigger city. Serena has been doing my hair for almost two decades now and I always get stopped and asked who does my hair? She keeps it beautiful and healthy. She’s been doing it so long that I don’t even need to tell her what I’m wanting. I just tell her to make it good and she does it Every. Single. Time! Truly a master at what she does.
